Castlemead Court’s newest resident Anita is not only a happy lady that spreads joy among the people who live and work there, but she is also a very talented poet with a history of literature success.
Anita was born in Blandford, Dorset but moved to Luton when she was young. She settled in Luton for a number of years and is the place where she married and raised her children. Her love for writing then led her to explore a career as a freelance literature promoter which required her to move to Milton Keynes. She moved around the area whilst working in this role, but her love of writing and reading poetry never left her.
Anita has been writing poetry since she was 16 years old. Poetry is a creative outlet for Anita, where she explores her thoughts, feelings and lets her imagination run wild! Anita’s loves for poetry has led her to publish six collections throughout her career which have all been reprinted a number of times.
Anita doesn’t only write to express her own creativity, as she has used her passion for poetry to raise money for charities that are close to her heart. As well as providing much joy to herself, Anita’s poems have had a positive impact on many other people too.
Although Anita writes in one of her books,” I have no claim to fame, in fact I’m quite ordinary,” her talent tells another story. Her poetry has reached international audiences. From being read on radio Bedfordshire to being read by well known poet, John Szertez. Anita also won a third-place prize at an international Haiku competition in Japan – an achievement she is still proud of to this day!
Another quote from Anita’s writing reads “I’m living a dream,” and we very much hope this dream continues at Castlemead Court.
