Last Monday was a very exciting day for the people living at Queens Oak Care Home in Peckham, as the home received a visit from St James Primary School!
The home has been so excited to start welcoming in members of the local community after such a long time, and school children are always a favourite as the residents love intergenerational connection.
Students from St James Primary School arrived with their teachers, ready to put a show on for the people living at the home. The children were so happy, with big smiles on their faces and recorders in hands as they got ready for their performance to start.
The people living in the home loved every minute of it and smiled and cheered through the entire performance. When they learnt that it was one child’s birthday today, everyone took it upon themselves to perform for the children, singing a loud and hearty rendition of happy birthday.
After the performance, the wonderful team at Queens Oak had made sure to put on a great spread of refreshments. Everyone excitedly tucked into the cakes and drinks and chatted about what a lovely day it had been. One of the young girls saw that the home had a piano, and politely asked if she could play it for a bit. The team at the home said yes, of course, and thought that it was absolutely great.
The home is so grateful to St James Primary School for paying them such a great visit. Everybody agreed that it was a fantastic day, and they look forward to seeing them again!
