During the COVID-19 pandemic, our social media pages, especially Facebook has been instrumental in keeping everyone at Fitzwilliam House in contact with their loved ones. Including live streaming activities, daily updates and check-ins on what everyone has been up to. On this occasion, Fitzwilliam had uploaded a post about their new in-house mobile shop for residents to purchase goodies. This sparked the imagination of Pauline, a relative of a resident to send an unexpected yet generous donation to the home.
Upon seeing the post, Pauline decided to make every resident a beautiful purse to hold their money for the shop and to let them know that everyone outside the home was sending them love. Pauline also included a tag on each purse so that residents could put their name on and keep it safe.
This kind of donation will allow everyone at Fitzwilliam to store their own money for purchases from the shop and support their independence and wellbeing. Pauline said that she is so thankful for everything the Fitzwilliam team are doing for her mum and that this allowed her to give back and support the home. Pauline has also been busy making facemasks for her local community too, a truly special lady
Claire, the Home Manager at Fitzwilliam, was overwhelmed by the kind donation and jumped straight onto Facebook to thank Pauline saying, “Thank you so much, Pauline, you and all your family are such a support to our Fitzwilliam family. We can’t wait to see you all again and to give you all big hugs. These purses will make such a difference to our residents. I could have cried when I opened the package! Thank you again for all you do.
We couldn’t agree more Claire, thank you from everyone at Excelcare Pauline! You really are amazing!
