Healthcare Assistant, Phoebe works at Park Avenue Care Home in Bromley, but recently achieved family-wide fame when her Christmas Card design was announced as the winner of the Excelcare Christmas Card Competition 2022.
This is an annual competition that challenges residents and team members across the Excelcare family to create a Christmas card. The cards that are submitted are then judged by a panel of team members from across the family.
The winner of the home competition will see their Christmas card design sent to residents, relatives and businesses that have supported the home, whilst the winner of the group competition will see their card send to over 2000 team members across the Excelcare family!
This year’s competition was extremely popular, with over 60 submissions from residents and team members. Each card was unique, and you could see each person had put lots of hard work and thought into their festive creations.
This year’s judging took place on November 15th via a fun-filled Microsoft Teams call, with a team member from each region and team members from the Support Office forming the judging panel. Valerie, a lady who lives at Rheola, also wanted to get involved in the judging process, so joined the panel too. During the call, card submissions from across the family were shown on screen and each person was then asked to score it from 1-5. The card with the most points at the end of the call would then be announced as the winner.
After counting the scores, there were a few that were clear favourites amongst the judges. But with a total of 36 points, Phoebe’s card edged the competition and finished in first place!
Phoebe’s reindeer-themed design was colourful, creative, and captured the festive season perfectly! Her card is now being printed to be shared around the group and with care homes that didn’t submit an entry into the Christmas card competition. For her efforts, she will also receive a £50 voucher!
Using the scores given by the judges, the winners of the home competitions were then chosen and announced in a group-wide email. The people behind these winning designs will also be receiving vouchers for their Christmas card creations.
Well done to Phoebe and all the other individual winners around the family!
