It was a wholesome day at Glennfield Care Home in Wisbech when two old friends reunited after many years apart.
The meeting took place after Katie, a Lifestyle Coordinator at Glennfield received a call from their neighbouring care home, Orchard House, saying there was a lady who lived there that wanted to visit a resident of Glennfield. After speaking on the phone, it was clear that Sylvia from Orchard house and Ida, the lady living at Glennfield were lifelong friends that had recently fallen out of touch.
A meeting was then arranged for the following week so the two old friends could be reunited at Glennfield.
Ahead of the visit, the team set a table with tea, coffee and some biscuits so the ladies could have a proper catch-up. When they saw each other their faces both lit up and they were delighted to be in each other’s company again. They explained that both of their mothers were good friends, so they had known each other since they were children and had been on many holidays together. They also shared memories of going dancing together and visiting each other’s houses regularly as they lived so close.
Hearing these fond memories was heart-warming for the team and you could tell their friendship hadn’t wavered, even after being apart for some years.
The pair were then left to catch up and share updates about their lives, recent events and families. Knowing they live so close to each other has provided a boost to their wellbeing and they have vowed to stay in touch and visit each other frequently.
It was a very wholesome day and before leaving, the pair enjoyed a hug and made plans for their next meeting!
It’s clear this friendship will stand the test of time and they were both delighted to be reunited again.
