Amongst the people who are part of the Excelcare family, we have some who have hidden talents that aren’t always shown as part of their day job.
In response to this, Hayley, the Home Manager at Okeley Care Home, decided to host a MasterChef-inspired cooking competition so the team’s hidden cooking talents could be revealed.
Each team member who signed up to take part picked a dish to make and set about creating it, without the help of anyone else.
This so happened to fall on the day that Chief Operating Officer, Sam Manning and CEO, Ozzie Ertosun were visiting the home, so they joined in as part of the judging panel.
Each of the dishes the team members made were different and ranged from main courses to desserts. This included stir fry chicken with garlic, black bean sauce and jasmine rice, oxtail stew with beer bread and rice, chocolate cake, butternut lasagne and a Kenyan chicken curry, pilau rice and sambal. Odelia also made South African cream soda.
After tasting each of the dishes, Sam, Ozzie and Home Manager Hayley decided the winners and runners up.
1st place went to Odelia, a Lifestyle Coordinator. For finishing top, she was awarded with a spa voucher for two people.
The two runners up were Amm Anderson, a Housekeeper and Aisha Lundrum, a Team Leader who each bagged a £50 voucher for their efforts.
It was great to see the cooking talents of team members at Okeley and we’d like to share a big well done to everyone who took part.
