The people living at Park Avenue Care Home in Bromley have been preparing for Valentines Day this week by making some heart-shaped decorations!
This year, Valentine’s Day celebrations are extra special as during the pandemic, restrictions have limited people from hugging and being close to their loved ones. Now, these restrictions have begun to ease, this year’s Valentines Day celebrations will allow people to be close to their loved ones again!
Bert, who lives at Park Avenue said Valentines Day is one of his favourite celebrations so he was especially excited to take part in this love-themed craft session.
To make the heart-shaped decorations, team members mixed flour, salt and water together to make a thick, dough-like paste. This was then rolled out on the table, before residents cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
Once all of the dough had been used, the shapes were left to cool before being baked in the oven.
This solidifies the shape, so people could then decorate them with colours and craft materials. Most of the shapes were painted in red paint and left to dry so they could be hung up around the home.
Everyone enjoyed taking part in this activity and getting in the spirit of Valentine’s Day.
