Longfield Care Home in Maldon, Essex, recently hosted a community fundraising event to support the work of cancer charity, Marie Cure Cancer Care.
Renowned for its commitment to resident wellbeing and community engagement, the team at Longfield planned and hosted this event to help raise funds for a charity that supports and changes the lives of people living with cancer. It was also a chance to welcome members of the community, family members, and friends to join the people living and working at Longfield Care Home, building new connections and friendships.
In preparation for the event, the kitchen team baked cupcakes to sell during the event and purchased edible Marie Curie cake decorations to theme them with the fundraising event. Lifestyle Coordinator Karen also organised a ‘Name the Bunny’ activity as a fun way to raise further funds.
The event was well attended, and the team were especially excited to welcome Jeanette and Toni, with two children from a local pre-school in Maldon.
The afternoon was spent socialising, playing games, sipping hot drinks and sharing stories. It was an occasion that encouraged socialisation whilst fundraising for charity, making it a wholesome day for everyone involved.
It’s safe to say to the event was a success, as everyone enjoyed the afternoon and the team raised a total of £250 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Everyone at Longfield hopes their donation will help people living with cancer and their families.
