The people living at Glennfield Care Home in Wisbech were amazed when the Raptor Foundation recently visited to deliver a wildlife experience like no other.
Animal experiences are popular amongst the people living at Glennfield, as they love spending time with different animals, feeling their coats and learning facts about them.
When the Raptor Foundation visited, they brought three owls of varying sizes with them, which included a large 19-year-old.
The team from the Raptor Foundation started the session by introducing the owls and taking them around the room so people could stroke them. Whilst they were taking the owls around the room, the handler shared facts about the different owls and answered people’s questions.
Everyone enjoyed learning about the owls and feeling their soft feathers. One of the owls was very fluffy and residents said it looked like it was wearing pyjamas! They said this was their favourite, but that all of the owls looked very elegant.
This session had a really positive impact on people’s wellbeing and created lots of conversation long after the Raptor Foundation had left.
The team are currently planning the rest of the year’s activities and hope to welcome the Raptor Foundation back again soon.
