Residents, relatives and members of the community recently gathered at Glennfield Care Home for the annual summer fete!
The people who live at Glennfield always look forward to this day, as lots of people from the community attend, as well as members of their family which makes it a wonderful social occasion to mark the start of summer. This event also provides residents with the opportunity to meet new people and exchange stories.
The annual summer fete is also an opportunity to raise funds for the comfort fund at Glenfield. This fund goes directly to supporting residents – from purchasing new equipment to funding exciting day trips to local attractions. In order to raise these funds, the team set up stalls in the garden selling a variety of items, including some that had been handmade by the Glennfield Family.
The community really came together to support this event and turned up in their numbers! The team were also delighted to welcome the local Mayor, Cllr Peter Human and Mayoress, Janet Tanfield to fete. Their support for the event meant a lot to the team and people in attendance, who all enjoyed the opportunity to have a chat with them.
The afternoon’s entertainment was provided by the Purple Angels and Your Choir. Their music had people singing and dancing along which aided the creation of happy memories under the summer sun at Glennfield.
As well as being a brilliant day, the team at Glennfield successfully raised £575.30 for the comfort fund, which will be used to help residents make many more happy memories this summer!
