The people living at Park Avenue Care Home recently recreated their traditional Fruity Friday activity by dipping fruits into melted chocolate.
Fruity Friday started to encourage people to maintain a balanced diet and taste different fruits from around the world. Each week, the team would cut up people's favourite fruits and introduce exotic fruits from around the world. This has always been popular with residents and they have enjoyed tasting all different types of delicious fruits.
During their recent session, the team thought it would be fun to dip the fruits into chocolate for a little end-of-the-week treat! This would also give people the opportunity to see what different fruits covered in chocolate would taste like.
The team started by putting a selection of different fruits into bowls, including apples, grapes, strawberries and more! Melted milk chocolate and white chocolate were also placed into bowls that people could dip the fruits into.
Residents enjoyed tasting the different fruit and chocolate combinations. Some people said they were going to be ‘naughty’ and dip the fruits into both types of chocolate.
People did get a little messy but said licking the chocolate off of their fingers after helped to bring back memories of their childhood.
It was an enjoyable activity for all, and residents look forward to their next Fruity Friday activity!
