Recently, the team and the people living at Fitzwilliam House Care Home in Cottenham, Cambridge, were reminded of just how generous their local community and relatives of the home are.
Fitzwilliam’s local Dunelm store often runs community competitions in their local Facebook group. Recently, they held a competition where care homes, schools and other community organisations could encourage their followers to vote on who should win some lovely teddy blankets. The top three most voted groups would receive some teddy blankets from Dunelm.
Fitzwilliam were ready for the competition, asking the followers of the Fitzwilliam Facebook page to vote and share far and wide, but unfortunately, despite everyone’s hard work, they were not selected. However, luck was smiling down on them in a different way.
Diane, a resident of Fitzwilliam, has a son called Rob who loves keeping up with the wonderful activities in the home via their Facebook page. When he saw that Fitzwilliam had not won the teddy blankets, he decided that he would treat them to some teddy blankets himself and went out to buy some to gift to the home.
When the people living in the home saw the blankets they were so touched! Everyone was incredibly grateful for Rob’s generosity and felt very honoured to have been thought about. They thanked Rob immediately, noting that the blankets looked so soft and inviting. Some people even joked that they can’t wait for the weather to get colder so they can start to use them.
Fitzwilliam would like to thank Rob so much for the gesture. The families of the home have the most beautiful souls, and the team and the people living at Fitzwilliam are incredibly grateful for all of the generous donations they receive.
