In 2019, Excelcare started a four-year partnership with arts charity ‘Magic Me', to bring modern forms of art to residents in our care homes. Magic Me has helped to connect us with four different artistry groups that break the boundaries in their field and use thought-provoking activities to engage with groups; Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, Fevered Sleep, Gecko and Curious Directive.
Arts Company, Fevered Sleep was partnered with Sherrell House Care Home, whose mission is to make the world a more caring, curious and compassionate place through their unique art form.
Fevered Sleep has been working closely to deliver art sessions with the people living at Sherrell House, but has not been able to host these sessions in person for some time due to the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic.
They adapted to these changes and delivered their sessions via zoom, but couldn’t wait to meet with residents again and delivered their art form in person.
This month, that came to fruition as Fevered Sleep visited residents of Sherrell House after some years apart. Everyone was happy to welcome their team and engage in their enjoyable session which explores connection through touch and the benefits this has.
Their latest session was enjoyed by all of the people who took part and said it was something totally different to their usual activity sessions. It was very thought-provoking, so much so that talk about the session continued long after they had left.
Now they are able to come back into the home, Sherrell House and Fevered Sleep will continue their partnership with more activity sessions like this.
The team would like to say a big thankyou to Fevered Sleep for their support and ongoing commitment to the people who live at Sherrell House.
