During the COVID-19 pandemic, many of you will have seen and perhaps even taken part in some wonderful schemes to spread joy in your local communities. Across the Excelcare family, our Rainbow of Hope theme is one that everyone is familiar with and in many homes, this has been extended to decorate areas and inspire ongoing activities.
One of the most recent trends to sweep social media is the colourful ‘pebble snake’. This consists of creating a line of uniquely decorated stones and adding it to a line of others, forming a colourful snake-like trail.
After seeing this, Bailey, the daughter of Excelcare’s Chief Operating Officer, Sam Manning, decided it would be a nice idea to recreate this at Excelcare and create one of our own ‘pebble snakes’ in each home.
Putting her idea into action, Bailey quickly set about creating 33 beautifully decorated pebbles, one for each Excelcare home to start their colourful ‘rainbow snakes’, which we will be calling Excelcare’s Rainbow Roads!
Over the next few weeks, the people living in our care homes will be invited to spend time decorating stones during their art sessions, to form a colourful rainbow road for each of their homes. Residents are familiar with stone decorating activities but have not taken part in this way before, so it will be interesting to see what colourful creations are made!
We look forward to sharing updates about the Excelcare Rainbow Road and the special moments made during these sessions in the coming weeks.
