On Thursday 25th April, Excelcare hosted a Care Quality Conference to launch their new internal Quality Framework.
This quality framework was created to align with standards set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) focussing on the new ‘I’, ‘We’ and Quality Statements. The launch of this new framework will support team members across the Excelcare Family to embed their personhood strategy and framework into the lives of the people who live in Excelcare homes, commonly referred to by the care group as Mr Bailey and his friends. This anecdote is based on a real resident named Mr Bailey, who during a visit from the senior management team, shared his views on how care should be delivered to an individual. Now, Mr Bailey’s story serves as a way to personify and personalise the care they deliver to each and every individual.
Hosted at the Marriott Hotel in Waltham Abbey, the day centred around the launch of the new quality framework, but also, how this will ensure compliance is maintained and the wellbeing of care home residents remains at the forefront of everyday life.
Throughout the day, team members in attendance were supported to understand the aims and objectives of the new care quality framework, as well as the impact this will have on the day-to-day lives of the people living in Excelcare homes. Ultimately, the conference celebrated adaptation to the changing needs of people moving into care homes, and how the robust quality framework supports every aspect of their life, from the medication they require, the care they receive, the food they consume and the active, engaging lifestyle that is promoted across the Excelcare group.
When combined in an easy-to-read flow chart, it helps to visualise how the award-winning care provider structures the team to ensure the CQC Quality Statements and Mr Bailey remain at the center of everything they do.
“Our commitment to delivering quality care outcomes for Mr Bailey and his friends remains at the heart of everything we do, and with the launch of our new care quality framework, we aim to continue this work, ensuring our quality outcomes align with those set by the CQC. I am very excited to see our new framework come to life inside each of our care homes, and witnessing the positive impact this has," said Chief Operating Officer, Sam Manning.
Built into the day were also regular opportunities for people to contribute to questions based on what had been covered during the conference, as well as opportunities to feedback on the contents of what was being discussed.
Mentimeter, an interactive online tool helped to make the presentation more of a conversation with the ability to display questions and answers in an engaging way, live on the screen. Using their smartphones, participants scanned a QR code to access to the question being displayed and were able to share their input from the comfort of their seats. Mentimeter collated all of the data, meaning it could be taken away and used to learn more about engagement and feedback from team members.
A team-building activity was also a part of the conference structure, which allowed attendees to socialise and work together to get the best outcome. This symbolised the importance of working as a team and communicating, perfectly relating to their roles and responsibilities in achieving the best outcomes for Mr bailey and his friends.
With the launch of the new framework came changes to team structures and roles within the company. This was also discussed and explained during the conference to showcase Excelcare’s commitment to aligning internal structures with deliverables set by the CQC.
Referred to as part one, Excelcare will host part two of their care quality conference in July, which will focus on the importance of evidencing every aspect of care a person receives and other exciting internal announcements.
