There was some friendly competition at Winifred Dell Care Home recently as the team and residents took part in games and team-building activities.
These types of group games help to develop relationships and provide some friendly competition amongst the team and residents. These afternoons are always well enjoyed amongst the people living at Winifred Dell as they create lots of comical moments and happy memories to treasure.
The team were planning to host these competitive games in the garden, but with the rain pouring down outside, the team decided to host the games inside.
For the first game, which was bowls, residents were put into teams of 2, 3 and 4. After pairing up in their teams and plotting how they were going to win, the games began! Some of the people living at Winifred Dell have played bowls as a hobby before so they had a natural advantage but had lots of fun testing out their talents and seeing who could get their bowl nearest to the jack.
The games that each team won were tallied before an overall winner was declared! Playing bowls brought back happy memories for some and created memorable moments to look back on for others, but that was only the start of the fun, as the next game on the agenda was skittles.
This was set up like a traditional game of bowling, with the aim for people to knock down as many skittles as they could! There was anticipation as people waited to see if anyone could land a strike, and teams began cheering on their friends.
This wasn’t only a fun day for all but also had health benefits with the light movements people were doing during the session.
Everyone who took part was awarded for their involvement with a treat and a hot drink.
It was a brilliant day competing against their friends and the team. Watch this space for updates about more game days at Winifred Dell.
