Since the 'lockdown' was announced, local businesses and groups have been supporting Castlebar Care Home, with product donations and letters in the post for the residents. This combined support has kept everyone in good spirits and looking forward to seeing their families again.
May the 1st was full of surprises at Castlebar last week, as Matthew, Helen and a few of their neighbours, stopped by to drop off a care package for the residents. These people live locally to Castlebar Care Home and aren't affiliated to a group, this donation came purely from the kindness of their hearts.
The team and residents near reception were overwhelmed when they saw exactly what was included in the package. A selection of homemade cakes, cards and biscuits were inside for all the residents and team members to enjoy.
The fact that they had taken the time to hand-make these items made it even more special for the residents, showing just how much the surrounding community cares.
The cards were later distributed around the care home and the kind messages inside brought lots of smiles. During these unusual times and with visitation currently on hold, these kind words from local families are especially appreciated.
"We would like to thank Helen, Matthew and their neighbours for their very generous gifts to the home. All the staff and residents send their love and thanks to everyone who contributed to this wonderful gesture”, said Sue, Business Support Administrator at Castlebar.
