Over the festive period, Care Home Manager Lizzie and her colleagues have been spreading festive cheer in St Ives, Cambridge and supporting the most vulnerable members of the community.
Lizzie and her team have been supporting the surrounding community for the last few years by delivering meals to elderly people spending Christmas on their own. During her first year of offering this service, Lizzie delivered two Christmas meals, but with word about her services to the community spreading year after year, in 2023, Lizzie and the team delivered over 20 meals!
With support from the people working in the two care homes she manages, they were able to freshly prepare and deliver the meals to people in the local community, whilst also ensuring the people living at Rheola and Fitzwilliam House had a wonderful Christmas day too.
Lizzie and her team received some lovely feedback from the people they delivered Christmas meals to, with many messages of thanks and offers to help the home in return!
The good deeds for 2023 didn’t end there, as Lizzie and her team decided to support homeless people in the area on New Year’s Eve! Chef at Fitzwilliam House, Blair, cooked a large batch of Jacket Potatoes and some homemade chilli con carne which he boxed up and took to the local homeless shelter.
The shelter and people who were using it were very grateful to Lizzie, Blair and the team for thinking of them and preparing some delicious meals. Due to the positive impact they had, the team is planning to volunteer at the shelter this year and support the homeless people in their community.
Thanks to Lizzie, her team, and their generous efforts over the festive period, Christmas in Cambridge has shone a bit brighter!
