Roger, Tracy and Clare are all team members at Winifred Dell Care Home in Brentwood and recently, they decided to take on the 15 bridges walk in London to help raise money for the residents’ comfort fund.
This fund helps to provide new equipment, activities and days out for the people who live at Winifred Dell, so this inspired the team to raise as much money as they could and gave them the motivation to take on the walk.
The 15 bridges walk is a route which takes you over 15 iconic bridges in the capital. It provides scenic views of the River Thames and during the route, takes you past some well-known landmarks too.
The team started the walk at 8:30 am at Putney Bridge. They then walked along the Thames and crossed each of the bridges they came to.
During the walk, the team came across some unexpected road and path closures, which mean they had to divert their route and go a slightly different way. This added an extra few miles to the walk, so they ended the walk at about 3 pm after walking the distance they intended.
Although they all came away with slightly sore feet and a bit of sunburn, they were delighted that they took on the challenge and proud of the money they raised. In total, this came to £500!
This money will help to provide new equipment and exciting days for the people living at Winifred Dell.
