The people living at Winifred Dell Care Home were recently delighted when Debbie performed some classic ABBA tunes via zoom.
Over the last few years, Zoom has been used to host many virtual entertainment sessions when visitation wasn’t permitted. Although this was a big change to adapt to at the start of the pandemic, team members soon realised it was an effective way of keeping people entertained, and welcoming people into their home virtually who may live too far away to visit. This meant the team could broaden the entertainment acts they booked and add lots of variety to the schedule.
Now the restrictions have eased and our homes are open, team members have been welcoming performers back into their home and residents love this, but on occasion, Zoom is still used to deliver entertainment virtually when people aren’t able to visit.
So when ABBA performer, Debbie wasn’t about to visit in person recently, the team welcomed her via Zoom so residents could enjoy her performance, virtually!
The team set up the video call on a TV so it looked like a real, televised performance. Debbie sang a variety of ABBA hits, from ‘Dancing Queen’ to ‘Super Trooper’. Residents were singing and dancing along from their chairs with smiles on their faces. Pat, who lives at Winifred Dell, got up on her feet for most of the performance and danced along to her favourite songs.
It was wonderful seeing everyone enjoying the performance and engaged in the session, even though it was being delivered virtually.
Residents thoroughly enjoyed the performance and can’t wait to welcome her back for another performance soon!
