Windmill Lodge enjoys a jolly cup of afternoon tea and some sweet treats
What could be more quintessentially British than a good old cup of English tea? For residents at Windmill Lodge Care Home, there is never an occasion to say no to a cuppa. The only other thing perhaps more British is the weather and the discussion thereof. As it happens, that day was unfortunately a bit cold and windy to sit outside, so Windmill Lodge decided that it would be a blinding opportunity to enjoy a spot of afternoon tea indoors instead.
The team immediately set on preparing the table just right for the residents, laying it out with a white linen table cloth, sufficient amounts of cutlery, tea cups, sugar bowls, small plates, milk and everything else necessary to make it a proper afternoon tea party. The residents were then able to tuck in to an abundance of cakes and a vast assortment of muffins piled sky high on tea cake stands.
Home Manager, Michelle was delighted to see just how much the residents enjoyed their indoor tea party. For the residents, activities like this hold a lot of sentimental nostalgia, as afternoon tea has been such a popular pasttime throughout their lives. The residents were rather happy to have a chinwag amongst themselves, as they put the world the rights over plentiful amounts of tea and savoury sweets. They agreed that despite the weather, the day had “turned out nice again”. Shirley, who lives at the home, told the team that their get together had been “jolly good” and that she was looking forward to the next one.
Windmill Care Home is very pleased that its residents enjoyed their latest indoor brew so much, especially as celebrating past times like this makes for wonderful occasions to socialise amongst themselves and can greatly help to boost mental well-being. Fingers crossed that the weather turns out a bit nicer for their next afternoon tea party!
