The people living at Windmill Lodge Care Home in London had a great two days before Christmas Day.
It was the season for joy and laughter and the team at Windmill wanted everyone living at the home to feel good and have some fun, regardless of COVID restrictions. Since they could not bring in external entertainment, they sourced inhouse, gathering together talented members of their own team and putting on a show for everyone.
The team members sang Christmas carols, encouraging the joyful audience to singalong with them; silent night being a clear fan favourite of the evening. There was also a stand up comedy act, hosted by Lifestyle Co-ordinator Susan, which filled the room with laughter from team members and residents alike.
To finish off the evening, two members of the kitchen team, Pearl and Gilbert, did two beautiful song and dance numbers: the first to Tina Turner’s ‘Simply the Best’ and the second to Chubby Checker’s ‘Let’s Do the Twist’. It was an incredibly entertaining act and the crowd went wild when Gilbert picked up Petal, clapping and cheering them on.
The show was a great success and the audience had some rave reviews. Resident Diane said “That was nice, wer’n it?”, Barbara described it as “great fun” and said that she “thoroughly enjoyed herself”, and Amy congratulated Lifestyle Coordinator Susan, telling her “You always do a good job.”
This show was a fun activity for team members and people living at the home alike, and they look forward to putting some more shows on in the future.
