The residents at Etheldred House received a surprise delivery this week from the Wendy House Nursery children.
The care home has close links to many local groups and schools that regularly visit to take part in activities and events. However, with the current pandemic putting the UK on hold, their usual visits have had to be cancelled.
To let the resident know they were being thought about, the nursery children helped to bake an apple and cinnamon flavoured cake. It arrived at Etheldred House this week and the residents were really excited to give it a try.
Everyone said the cake was delicious and it was enjoyed over a hot drink with friends and team members at the home.
The residents were especially grateful for the delivery as they aren't able to see their grandchildren currently, so knowing that children had helped to make and decorate it was personally pleasing for all.
Receiving the gift brought back memories for some of the residents. Barbara said, "I looked after young children in my professional career as a Headteacher so this kind act made me feel emotional. I have a lot of happy memories thinking about the kids playing, doing different activities and providing resources to improve their wellbeing! I would like to write a card to them personally to say thank you!’’
Thank you to everyone from the Wendy House Nursery for taking the time to make such a lovely cake for Limetree Care Home. It created lots of happy moments and provided comfort, at a time when people need it most!
