Councillor Marcia Cameron and Lambeth’s Lead Commissioner, Paulo Borges visited Limetree Care Home this week to meet the people living and working there.
Councillor Cameron actively involves herself in the community and loves to meet with care services within the borough to observe daily life and the initiatives they run for the people who live in them.
Upon arrival at Limetree, Paulo and Councillor Cameron were taken around the home to meet people in communal areas as well as some of the facilities on offer.
Councillor Cameron and Paulo met with Home Manager, Jonathan Kamara and Regional Director, Celia Hardill to learn more about Limetree, meet teams in each department and interact with the people who live there.
Councillor Cameron was particularly impressed to see people taking part in activities with the team and music playing in the background to keep people stimulated. The people living at Limetree were keen to put on a show for the Councillor and Lead Commissioner and did so by showing off some of their dance moves. “When I saw the activities, that was a wow for me”, Said Councillor Marcia Cameron.
After a tour of the care home, Councillor Cameron and Paulo sat down with the leadership team to discuss the latest news in the sector as well as the future plans for Limetree. This gave the team some valuable time with figureheads in the community and provided them with the opportunity to hear their respected feedback about Limetree. The team were delighted to hear positive comments and in response, shared some of the future plans to create new areas in the home, which included an on-site replica pub. This excited the team from Lambeth and they both said they would love to visit when it is ready!
When asked about her visit to Limetree Care Home, Councillor Marcia Cameron said, “I was impressed by the activities taking place in the communal areas, arts, crafts, games, music and songs. It was good hearing about their partnerships in the community and the links they have with local schools and religious settings. It is important that residents are visible and embedded in the community."
This was followed by comments from Paulo Borges, who said, “Thank you to the team at Limetree for taking the time out to show us around your home and the opportunity to meet some of the residents.
“The atmosphere in Limetree felt very upbeat and it was really good to see so many residents out and about in the communal lounges."
The team were grateful for the time they dedicated to visiting Limetree and meeting the people who live and work there. They hope to welcome them both back again soon!
