After the recent government updates allowing visitation to care homes, our homes have started to introduce visiting suites, creating dedicated areas where socially distanced reunions can take place.
To get the teams and residents engaged in this, the Essex regional team announced a competition for the best-dressed visiting suite, with the winner taking back £100 pounds for their home’s comfort fund.
This spurred homes in the region into action, using festive decorations and a range of décor items to make their suites stand out. This would also help to create a special place where families could visit their loved one and make sure the visiting suites were just as beautiful as the memories made inside them.
At Sweyne Court, the team decided to theme their room with traditional furnishings and decorations that residents may have had in their own homes. This was to ensure the room felt familiar and cosy for all. Whilst on the other side of the partition, they made the visitor's area more modern with comfort and class in mind.
Many of the decorations displayed in the traditional side of the room were made by residents of Sweyne Court so they could show off their craft skills to visitors and ensure they had input into the design.
This theme went down really well with visitors and residents alike and for their efforts, Sweyne Court won the best-dressed visiting suite competition. For this, they have bagged £100 for the comfort fund, which will be used to supply more enjoyable activities for people during the countdown to Christmas.
