Sidney and Sheila met at Sherrell House Care Home in Chigwell, not knowing their friendship would develop into something much more than that.
Sheila moved into to Sherrell House Care Home in 2018 and has remained actively involved in life at the home since. Always welcoming new people when they move in with a smile and taking part in the activities the team host.
When Sidney moved into the home, Sheila was there to say hello, make him feel welcome and even kept Sidney up to date on the events and activities taking place so he didn’t miss out. It was wholesome to watch their friendship grow and the team was delighted to see them both so happy.
Sheila and Sidney’s relationship then began to develop after a darts competition day at Sherrell House. It was a day for residents to come together and take part in some competitive fun. Throughout the day, people played against each other and tallied their points to see who would win. It was during this competitive fun that Sheila and Sidney played against each other, spoke about their shared love of darts and laughed together.
Sheila is a former darts champion and over the years won a number of trophies. To this day, she still holds a gold medal from a Ladies Division 2 Warriors competition. Her darts stories certainly intrigued Sidney, and they soon began spending more time together, soaking up the sun in the garden and taking part in more activities together.
Their relationship has continued to develop and now, they are almost inseparable. They describe their relationship as ‘very special friends’ and love the time they spend together.
