During the COVID-19 outbreak, team members have been working hard to ensure the residents maintain a schedule that is healthy, enjoyable and safe. They have been going above and beyond in their roles to ensure this and overstepped the many obstacles that the outbreak has thrown at them.
One of these challenges was a reduction in team members, with some self-isolating to protect the residents and their families. With team members all working hard, life at the home has continued to run smoothly, but the residents have missed their company as they are used to seeing these people most days!
Lynda, a Carer at Primrose Croft, has been self-isolating during the pandemic and those at the home have been missing her dearly. She plays an important role, caring for the residents and helping with activities, so she's a big part of life at the home and shares a special relationship with the people living there.
Although being isolated at home, Lynda has still played a role in life at the home by sending in chocolates and letters to keep them updated.
This week, she wrote to the residents and team members, saying how much she has been missing them all. She also said that she is scrolling through the care home's Facebook page each day, to stay in touch and connected to life at the home.
When the residents heard she was looking at their pictures and reading the updates, it made them feel good knowing that she's watching from home.
Derek, a resident at the home, can usually be found greeting visitors in reception and making sure the 'sign-in' book is kept up to date, but since the outbreak, said he's "been out of a job with no visitors!"
"I am waiting for the day I see Lynda walking through those doors with her lovely smiley face".
Beryl also live at Primrose Croft and said, “We are missing Lynda every minute of the day. Can’t wait until she is able to come back”.
All of these kind messages and many others were included in a letter back to Lynda, so she knows that everyone is thinking of her too.
Although the family feels incomplete without Lynda, staying in touch has helped to keep everyone connected and in good spirits whilst apart.
We hope to see you soon Lynda, Derek will be waiting to greet you with a smile!
