Thursday 8th April was National Zoo Lovers Day: a national day designed to encourage people to visit zoos.
The people living in Primrose Croft Care Home in Cambridge are big animal lovers, so they were very excited about National Zoo Lovers Day. However, they also wanted to discuss the dangers of zoo life and keeping animals in cages.
Conversation flowed as they spoke about zoo visits and the different types of animals you would see. Mary is a big fan of zebras, Molly loves the elephants, Josephine prefers domestic animals like dogs and cats, and Maureen enjoys looking at pandas because they are so cute. Many people also said they loved monkeys as they are so cheeky and fun to watch.
During the afternoon, everybody worked together to complete a quiz on animals. Thanks to the quiz, they all learnt some interesting facts about different animals. Some of their favourite facts were that a group of giraffes is called a tower, and that an octopus has three hearts.
Once this was done, the residents enjoyed watching videos of animals in the zoo, as well as some funny YouTube videos of animals encountering young children. Then they listened to some animal noises and tried to copy them, which ended up being an extremely funny activity for all involved.
The people living at Primrose Croft had such a fun day reminiscing about zoos and learning different facts about the animals. National Zoo Lovers Day was a success indeed!
