The residents at Goldenley Care Home enjoyed a pampering session with team members and their friends at the care home this week.
Due to the outbreak and impact that COVID-19 has had, visitation has been limited to Excelcare homes meaning our usual visitors and entertainers aren't able to host their sessions.
To ensure the residents maintain a positive wellbeing, team members have been taking on roles like hairdressing, which is usually done by a visiting hairdresser, to limit disruption to the resident's lives.
Gina and Debbie are Team Members at Goldenley's Day Care Centre and this week, they decided to host a pampering session with the residents to keep them in high spirits, looking and feeling great!
Joan and Jean both live at Goldenley Care Home and thought the offer of a pamper session was wonderful. Both of these ladies take care of their hair and enjoy having it styled regularly, so jumped at the chance when Gina and Debbie offered!
These regular hairdressing sessions also help to boost wellbeing as they are sociable occasions where residents can enjoy casual conversations with their friends, which team members encouraged during this pampering session at Goldenley.
As the ladies sat whilst their hair set into curls, Gina and Debbie brought out a foot spa that they could enjoy while they waited. This is a favourite amongst the residents and not only feels great but helps to improve circulation and reduce foot pain too.
After drying of their feet and checking out their new hair do's, Joan and Jean headed to lounge with GIna and Debbie for a chair-based exercise session. This light exercise builds muscle and a persons ability to do everyday tasks, increasing independence and fitness.
Gina and Debbie hosted the session together and played Abba in the background as they showed residents the movements. This familiar music got everyone engaged and before long they were singing along too. It was an enjoyable session for all and helped to lift the mood at Goldenley during these uncertain times.
