Last week, the residents at Glennfield Care Home enjoyed a cheese tasting session for ‘National Cheese Day’.
Over the last couple of weeks, team members at the home have been working hard to keep the activities entertaining and stimulating, so rather than a discussion about the resident’s favourite cheeses, a tasting session was booked instead!
A variety of different cheeses and crackers were laid out in the lounge ready for the tasting session. The residents were excited to tuck into their favourites and try some new types too!
Some of the residents wanted to challenge themselves during the session, so they ‘blind’ tasted some of the cheeses to see if they could name them. Others used the opportunity to catch up with friends and discuss their favourite cheese and cracker combinations.
Residents, Ros and Vera live at Glennfield and joined in with the day’s celebrations. They both enjoyed tasting the different cheeses on offer and said it was hard to pick a favourite!
After going around the group, Stilton and Cranberry Wensleydale came out on top, so they will feature in future activities and meals made at the home.
Celebrating National Cheese Day was a success at Glennfield and everyone said it was "Wonderful!"
We look forward to hosting further tasting sessions in the future and introducing more, new and exciting foods for people to try.
