Over the last couple of weeks, residents and team members at Buchan House Care Home have been decorating Christmas trees to display around the home.
Decorating the trees helped to bring back festive memories for residents of the home. The team enjoyed hearing their stories and sharing their own family traditions too.
After a busy few weeks, there was one tree left to decorate. This was slightly different though as they had to make it using materials sent from arts company, Creative Mojo.
Before the pandemic, a representative from the company would visit the home to host inclusive arts and craft session with the residents, but whilst visitation was on hold, they began sending in project packs with instructions so people could still enjoy these creative sessions.
This festive pack included a variety of pre-cut card shapes, that people could paint and then stick onto a backing piece of card. Once complete, it would display a Christmas tree with presents underneath.
Debbie, a Lifestyle Coordinator at Buchan House, said everyone enjoyed this project. “Their favourite part,” she said, “was seeing all the pieces they had painted come together to form the picture.”
It was wonderful watching everyone work as a team to complete this final tree!
Everyone is looking forward to the next craft project they receive from Creative Mojo.
