As we countdown to Christmas Day, the people living at Queen’s Oak Care Home have enjoyed taking part in a range of festive activities. They have made decorations, shared Christmas wishes and helped to make their home look festive, so everyone is filled with Christmas spirit.
The latest festive activity that the people of Queen’s Oak took part in was a Christmas card making session. As visits to the home have been on hold for most of the year, they have had to use other forms of communication to stay in touch with loved ones. This has included video calling and hand letter writing, something that has also helped to bring back memories from when this was the only way to stay in touch with their friends and family.
In light of this, they recently decided that they wanted to get creative and hand make some Christmas cards for their loved ones.
To do this, coloured card, glitter, pens and paints were placed on the activity table to use. People at the home wasted no time and began creating personalised cards for their loved ones. As they did this, they discussed their Christmas memories and fond festive moments spent with their loved ones. It was lovely to hear all the Christmas tales and smiles on faces as they were discussed.
After designing each of their cards, they wrote special messages inside and gave them to the team to send out in the post.
Everyone looks forward to taking part in more Christmas activities as we approach the big day and seeing which cards the receive in return.
