On Thursday 15th September, residents, families, and team members of Queens Oak Care Home in Peckham joint together to hold an afternoon tea in honour of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
There were plenty of helping hands to prepare for this event, as everyone wanted to make this day special. One of the relatives, Kim, generously donated a large box of cakes, while Wendy (Home Administrator) made a chocolate biscuit cake and brought in some scones that were lovingly made by her mum.
The team decorated every floor, donning the home with balloons, banners, posters, bunting and large cardboard cut-outs of Her late Majesty. The table was laid with China tea sets, cake stands and a selection of the Queen’s favourite sweet treats.
Everybody sat and ate while they shared their own stories and opinions of the Queen and her 70 years of service to this country. They also celebrated the ascension of King Charles III to the throne, wishing him well for the future.
It was a solemn occasion, but it was lovely to see so many members of the Queens Oak family come together in the Queen’s honour. She will be missed dearly.
