Over the last couple of weeks, the residents of Primrose Croft Care Home, have been taking part in the Excelcare Rainbow Road project. A group-wide scheme encouraging residents to decorate stones using colourful paints, then making a snake-like trail using them to brighten up their garden space.
In preparation for the start of this project, Lynda, a Lifestyle Coordinator at the home, set about collecting some stones. With the help of her Grandson, Toby, they managed to collect a large variety of pebbles on their holiday to bring back to Primrose Croft.
Those living at the home have thoroughly enjoyed taking part during arts and crafts sessions at the home, giving the stones a colourful wash or creating their own eye-catching designs.
Whilst decorating the stones, those living at the home enjoyed sharing stories and reminiscing about days they have spent at the seaside. It was lovely to hear the special moments they recalled and how everyone wishes to visit again soon when it's possible.
After the stones had been decorated and left to dry, they headed outside on a sunny Tuesday to create the rainbow road in their garden. It really helped to brighten their garden space and lots of people commented on what a brilliant idea this activity was.
As the weeks go on, residents and team members will use their spare time to create more colourful stones to add to the rainbow road. We look forward to seeing how far this will stretch around the garden!
