Primrose Croft residents immerse themselves on a virtual trip to Rome
Primrose Croft recently planned out a fun week for the residents where they could enjoy a ‘virtual’ holiday to Rome in Italy.
To start the week off in appropriate fashion, the scene was set as Lifestyle Coordinator, Lynda decorated the residents lounge area by decorating it with an Italian theme. This included adorning their national flag on the walls, having books available to peruse and even showing sights and sounds from Rome on the home’s large TV set. Not to mention plenty of Italian themed music for the afternoon activities.
There were a variety of books about Rome to read, which fuelled conversations between the residents, particularly of the rich cultural history that the capital city has to offer.
On the TV, there was footage of a trip around Rome and the Vatican City for the residents to immerse themselves in. This left them completely mesmerised by the wonderful sights that Rome has to offer. Particularly when they saw footage of St Paul’s Square and the Papal apartments from the Plaza where the Pope lives.
Rome is a location resident Ursula would really love to go and see and so she was very thankful to Lynda for putting this activity on. She told her that “it felt very special” to immerse herself in the sights of the city, especially whilst watching it with her friends at the home.
The Head Chef also organised a special Italian themed menu for the residents which consisted of:
Chicken, Tomato and Mozzarella Wrapped in Parma Ham
Italian Lamb Stew
Spinach & Ricotta Cannelloni
Tiramisu
Raspberry & White Chocolate Panna Cotta
Afterwards, the residents could not stop talking about how lovely the Italian menu had been, with one resident saying the food was “absolutely delicious, it feels like we’ve all gone to Italy!”
One of the Italian artists that the residents enjoy listening to is Andrea Bocelli, so the afternoon activities were dedicated to letting the residents unwind with his music. In-between this, residents danced, drank Sanpellegrino and tasted an assortment of olives, focaccia and Armaretti biscuits.
This virtual trip to Rome was very successful with the residents of Primrose Croft and Lifestyle Coordinator, Lynda has already said that she will be sure to put something similar on the activity schedule soon, allowing residents to visit another beautiful city.
