Following the success of their last poetry morning, Faith, the Lifestyle Coordinator at Goldenley Care Home in Essex, gathered a group of people living in the home for more poetry.
During this activity, Faith asked everyone to give her one word that came into their head, that they could use to base a poem around. Then, everyone took it in turns to try and come up with lines for the poem and create their own mini masterpieces.
This session brought about so much fun and laughter, as well as some special thoughts and beautiful verses. Resident Liz had a fantastic time, as she is an avid reader and very passionate about poetry. She said that she thought this this session was great for everyone’s imaginations and had a good giggle as they figured out what everyone was going to say.
Liz helped conclude the session, finishing off by reading one of her favourite books by Jeffrey Archer about war and Britain.
Poetry morning was a great success, and everybody enjoyed getting involved and coming up with their own poems. This activity has become a staple at Goldenley Care Home, and Faith is already getting ready to plan the next one.
