The people living at Peartree Care Home in Sydenham had a fantastic time during their Mary Poppins themed tea party.
Mary Poppins is beloved by many of the people living and working in the Excelcare family, and even acted as the theme for our 2022 Care Home Open Week. So, the team at Peartree thought that there was no better theme for their tea party last Thursday.
Lucy, from accessible arts and crafts company Creative Minds, has been visiting the home to host weekly art sessions for quite some time. When she heard about the Mary Poppins themed event, she worked with the residents in her sessions to make some beautiful homemade hats and table decorations.
Jacqui also kindly made everyone some red bow ties to wear too, so the residents were dressed to the nines for the big occasion, wandering into the lounge with big smiles on their faces. The tables were decorated, and the tea and cakes were laid out. Everyone agreed that it looked supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Georgie from the VIE group provided amazing entertainment, dressing as Mary Poppins, performing songs, and hosting a quiz for the residents to take part in. Georgia is an aspiring West End performer, so she truly put on a fantastic show, and everyone enjoyed listening to her.
The tea party was a fantastic success, and everyone left with big smiles on their faces.
