Last week, popular resident Pat celebrated her 86th birthday at Goldenley Care Home.
Personal life events and milestones like this are always celebrated with the team and residents to ensure they're marked in style. Friends, family and entertaining visitors would usually join us for these special days, but the restrictions around COVID-19 have currently put this on pause.
Therefore team members have been working hard to ensure each of these days remain special, can be celebrated properly and that family can join in virtually.
Pats' recent birthday was no different and was spent smiling, laughing with friends and chatting to her family. Pat's husband, Allan, doesn't live at Godenley, but in normal circumstances, regularly visits to spend time with her.
With the current visiting restrictions in place, Pat and Allan enjoyed catching up on a video call instead. It was not only a chance for him to share birthday wishes but virtually join the celebrations and be a part of her special day.
Pat was on Facetime her family throughout the day, but between these calls, was busy opening her cards and socialising with friends.
All of the kind words in the cards and special gifts she received were much appreciated and even brought a tear to her eye. Within the cards was a special one from Allan, who signed it off by saying "I will always love you".
It's a challenging time for couples who don't live together, but as you can see, Pat and Allan aren't letting it get between them and both look forward to reuniting soon!
Happy Birthday, Pat, we hope you had an enjoyable day!
