Pamela is a Lifestyle Coordinator at Sherrell House Care Home in Essex that keeps people in high spirits as in her spare time, she is a professional comedian. Her colleagues say "You can hear her before you see her,” and is always telling jokes that make people laugh.
Pamela’s unique comedy-style act has taken her around the world. Last year, Pamela was invited to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and due to her success, she was invited to perform at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in Australia this year!
The people living and working at Sherrell House Care Home were delighted that Pamela’s talent was taking her across the globe to perform in front of a new audience. Pamela was excited too, as not only would she be able to perform her comedy act, but also have the opportunity to visit her parents who live there.
During her time in Australia, Pamela sent postcards, emails, and photos back to the people living at Sherrell House Care Home. Residents were delighted to hear about her trip and see photos of Pamela with koalas, kangaroos and even swimming with dolphins. Receiving the postcards also brought back fond memories for residents, as during their younger years, this was the main way to communicate with people. Although technology has replaced this now, written forms of communication are always appreciated by residents of Sherrell House.
After returning back to Sherell House Care Home, Pamela sat with residents to share her stories from Australia. Some people in the group had been to Australia, so the stories brought back memories that were shared during their catch-up together.
“I immigrated to Melbourne back in the 60s and returned to London after 3 years so hearing from Pamela gave me some wonderful memories of my time there,” Said Lillian, Resident at Sherrell House.
