NHSX is a part of the NHS who work to help improve health and social care by giving people access to the technology they need. Their work helps to change the lives of people living in care facilities across the UK and keeps them connected to the wider world.
One of their most recent schemes to achieve this involved offering iPads to care homes during this challenging time, so they could host more video calls with families and friends. This would also open opportunities for people to experience entertainment in a whole different way, by playing touch screen games, watching videos from the past and tuning into live stream performances.
Care homes simply had to apply before the deadline date to be considered for an Ipad and over the last week, they have began sending them out to qualifying homes.
We’re delighted that many Excelcare homes across the group have already started receiving their iPads from NHSX, as it comes just in time for Christmas! These important deliveries will help team members to facilitate more facetime calls with resident’s loved ones and help those who can’t access communal spaces as easily, enjoy entertainment from a portable tablet in a place they find comfortable.
These devices have such a positive impact for people living in care and learning about their capabilities has kept the people we care for learning and up to date about the possibilities that technology can offer.
Thank you to NHSX for these very kind donations, they will certainly help to make many happy memories in each of our homes.
