Mother’s Day can be a cause for mixed emotions at Queen’s Oak Care Home, with the mother’s living at the home receiving wonderful gifts from their children, but also emotional as it brings back memories of their mothers.
This weekend’s Mother’s Day celebrations started with the people who live there discussing how they used to celebrate Mother’s Day and what they would do to make it special for their mums. Recalling these memories made some of the residents emotional but remembering the good times with their mums made others in the room smile.
The rest of the day was then spent celebrating all the mums living at Queen’s Oak and to do this, they got involved in some arts and crafts activities. Some made posters and banners to decorate the home with, whilst others helped with blowing up balloons and making other decorations to surround the posters.
All of the items were used in a display in a communal area at the home and made people smile as they passed!
The Lifestyle Coordinators then hosted an afternoon tea party for all the residents. There was a wonderful selection of goodies available, which included cupcakes coated in pink and purple icing. Music played in the background and everyone enjoyed spending the day celebrating together. Some residents received special gifts from their children which were wonderful, and many phone calls were received to wish them a Happy Mother’s Day.
It was a lovely day at Queen’s Oak Care Home and many happy memories were made.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums living at Queen’s Oak!
