The people living at Hunters Down Care Home have recently enjoyed watching the British Moto GP and cheering on their favourite riders.
Residents enjoy the excitement of seeing how fast the drivers go and how they battle it out on the track to secure a first-place finish. Watching the GP has become well attended amongst the people living at Hunters Down, so the team came up with an idea about how they could host their own Moto GP race at the home.
They started by making a track using paper and drawing grid marks along it. Pictures of different coloured motorcycles were attached to bowling skittles and then placed on the track in their own lanes.
Groups of residents then chose a car and took turns rolling a dice. Their car would then move the number of spaces the dice landed on, with the first to get to the end being declared the winner.
Whilst people were playing, others in the room enjoyed guessing which car they thought was going to win. There was some friendly competition in the room but everyone had lots of fun taking part in the races.
Some people said they wished they were riding the real bikes, whilst Janet was relieved as she said it would be terrifying.
The winner of each race was congratulated and received a round of applause from their friends. Although this activity was very inexpensive, it was very well enjoyed amongst people of hunters Down.
Moto GP-inspired races will definitely be returning again soon at Hunters Down.
