On Tuesday 26th January, Sarah, the Lifestyle Coordinator at Aliwal Manor Care Home in Cambridge, was greeted with a wonderful surprise as she came into work. On the table stood a variety of cards and decorations to celebrate her one-year anniversary of working at the home!
There were a variety of handmade cards from the people who live at Aliwal Manor; many of which made Sarah laugh. Ann wrote in hers “What would we do without you! Chief cook and fingernail cutter. Thank you for another year”, while Maureen wrote “Thank you for all you do for us”, and another card read “Sarah, you survived 1 year with us crazy lot”.
Also featured on the table were a selection of beautiful tissue paper flowers that the people living at the home had crafted for Sarah. She thought these were a beautiful touch and was very grateful for every single one.
The team were equally as appreciative of Sarah on her big day. Michelle, the Deputy Manager at the home, has said that “We feel so lucky to have Sarah as part of the team and she has done a tremendous job in such a challenging year. Sarah has managed to keep all the residents entertained and adapt the activities to suit the current times. Well done Sarah and we look forward to having you as part of the team for many more years.”
Sarah has said right from the start that she loves the job so much that it doesn’t feel like a job. She finds it so pleasurable being part of everyone’s lives and says that it is very rewarding knowing that she has made a difference.
The team at Aliwal Manor would like to congratulate Sarah for her one year at the home and look forward to seeing what she does for many more to come!
