Team members across the Excelcare Family have recently been sharing congratulations with Liana, Regional Quality & Development Manager after she secured a finalist spot in ‘The Frontline Leaders Award’ category at The Great British Care Awards (GBCA).
The Great British Care Awards take place annually and celebrate the achievements and dedication of people working in the care sector. The awards are separated into categories to celebrate the accomplishments of people working in a variety of different roles.
Liana learned about her shortlist in the East of England Care Awards back in September, and has since completed an interview with the GBCA to answer their questions and provide more information about her role as a leader in the care sector.
It was then in the judges’ hands to decide a winner in the category, which would be announced at the GBCA on Friday 4th November.
On the night of the awards, Liana and a few colleagues attended the event to see who would be crowned winners in the East of England. Win or lose, Liana’s colleagues supported and encouraged her throughout the event, reinforcing that being recognised and shortlisted for the award is a huge achievement in itself.
When it was time for the winner of The Frontline Leaders Category to be awarded, Liana and the team all crossed their fingers. There was a very high standard of competition in this award and excellence being displayed by many across the region. Unfortunately, Liana didn’t win the award, but left with her head held high and the knowledge that she was a winner in the eyes of her colleagues and team members across the Excelcare family.
In response to receiving her nomination, Liana said, “When I first saw the email I thought it was a joke, or one of those spam emails that we receive every day. I didn’t take it seriously and didn’t read the contents, until someone called me to let me know that my interview had been rescheduled, then I read the email and understood what it was.”
“I felt very humbled and honoured that someone thought I deserved an award for what I do and I feel very privileged to have been a finalist in the “Frontline Leader” category. That is the most important thing that I will always remember from this experience.”
