Kathleen and Sandy celebrate their 62nd wedding anniversary at Park Avenue
Kathleen and Sandy are quite the popular couple at Park Avenue Care Home, beloved by residents and team members alike. The team members find it very heart-warming to see just how much love they still share after all of these years.
On the day of Thursday 10th September, the residential couple were very happy as their daughter was arriving at the home for a socially distanced visit. When the team members told her what a beautiful couple her parents were, she told the team that it was actually their 62nd wedding anniversary on that very same day.
As soon as the team at Park Avenue heard that it was their wedding anniversary, they sprang into action to make sure that they could mark their occasion with the attention that it deserves. Chef Sharon didn’t hesitate for one minute to pull something together as soon as possible. As it was too short notice to make a proper cake from scratch, Sharon ordered a lovely, cake all the way from Wembley and had it delivered directly to the home using Uber.
The Park Avenue team quickly set the scene by making a playlist of some of their favourite love songs which was played in the background. With an aura of mystery surrounding the event, the team escorted Kathleen and Sharon through the homes Peony Suite and sat them at a table. The Park Avenue residents and team members were there to surprise them by congratulating them both on their longevity. Their cake was then brought in especially and decorated with icing that read, “Happy 62nd Wedding Anniversary, Sandy and Kathleen”.
Even though it was extremely short notice, the celebrations went down extremely well. Kathleen and Sandy were both completely blown away by the surprise; they really enjoyed all of the fuss that was made over them and thanked everyone for organising such a lovely day.
Those working at Park Avenue believe it is important to honour each and every milestone event in the lives of the residents, as it is as much a celebration of them and the lives they have lived. Everyone at Park Avenue would like to raise a glass to Kathleen and Sandy and wish them both many more glorious years of happiness together.
