The people living at Queens Oak Care Home in London were extremely excited to have a visit from some wild animals during a Jaws N Claws Animal Handling Workshop!
Everybody gathered in the lounge, excited to see what animals were in the travelling cages. However, before the animals were revealed, Jaws N Claws host Phil introduced the species' and their names. He told the residents all about Brian the giant snail, Jimmy the large hissing cockroach, Lenny the bearded dragon, Steve the royal python, and Terrence the tenrec.
There was such a variety of animals and the people living at the home could not wait to get close to them for themselves! As they were holding and stroking the animals, Phil told them more about what the animals ate, where they come from, and loads of other interesting facts. Surprisingly, there was no fear to be seen, and everybody treated the animals with such love and care.
Exotic animals are the ideal visitors for the people living in our homes, as they are very docile and allow for safe, controlled interaction. It’s also a very educational activity, allowing people to learn new things while they meet the animals face to face.
The people living at the home were so happy to have this afternoon session and left with so many amazing stories to tell. Everyone thanked Phil for coming and wished him and his collection of tropical friends a good day.
