Faith, the Lifestyle Coordinator at Goldenley Care Home in Essex, gathered a few of the people who live in the home to start preparing for their upcoming Halloween events.
Everyone began with a colouring activity; creating posters of witches that will be displayed around the home as decoration. As they coloured in the pictures, they began to reminisce about Halloweens of the past, and shared their own funny Halloween memories.
Fits of laughter could be heard from Barry and Val, who had a great time discussing the things they used to do at Halloween when they were children. Barry told Val about the time that he tricked his friends during ‘Trick or Treat’, by putting worms in a tub and pretending that they were sweets. Val thought this was absolutely hilarious, and a very clever trick.
One of Val’s favourite Halloween traditions used to be carving pumpkins out with her mum as she liked to get creative with the faces she would make. Everybody agreed that pumpkins are a Halloween staple, and that carving them can be a lot of fun!
Overall, this was a fun activity, and a great opportunity for everyone to harken back to the Halloweens of their youth. The people living at Goldenley look forward to more activities like this during the spooky season and can’t wait to see what Faith has up her sleeve next.
