The people living in Goldenley Care Home in Essex had a very busy week last week. Lifestyle Coordinator Faith gave them fresh haircuts as they have had no hairdresser due to COVID, and they spent time playing with their new interactive tablet.
The last few months have been quite challenging due to the pandemic and lockdown restrictions, so it was a great delight to receive the interactive tablet. The people living at Goldenley have loved using it, and it has already proved to be such a great addition to the home.
After the haircuts, Faith thought it would be nice to host a reminiscence session. They used the tablet to virtually visit Southend on Sea in the 1950’s, which prompted a lively discussion about the seaside. Elsie said that she really enjoyed the tablet and being able to see Southend as it used to be, as this brought back cherished memories for her.
After their virtual journey to the past, they used the tablet to play a fishing game as a group, which went down a treat. Then Joyce was able to Facetime her daughter, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Overall, it was a lovely, uplifting morning. Everyone said that the fresh haircuts were such a lovely surprise, and the new tablet has already brought a lot of joy to the people living at Goldenley.
