Florry thrilled with her 102nd Birthday celebrations at Winifred Dell
Florry, a resident at Winifred Dell, was ‘over the moon’ at the celebrations that had been organised for her 102nd birthday recently. The homes residents celebrated the day with her and were all in very high spirits, particularly for the buffet and entertainment in her honour.
Winifred Dell made sure that Florry’s day was made as memorable as possible from the very start. Team members started things off with a specially prepared breakfast for the birthday girl. They also carefully placed cards for her on the table, waiting to be opened, not to mention the balloons and banners they’d put up in her room, the lounge and the dining room.
All the residents absolutely loved celebrating their friend Florry. They joined the rest of the Winifred team in singing Happy Birthday for her at each meal time with the help of entertainer Dave, using video calling app, Zoom. Dave is a very popular performer at the home and is often referred to as a one man band. Everyone enjoyed his musical activities in the afternoon as they sang to their hearts content. As it was such a special occasion, Dave sang a couple of Florry’s favourite tunes from way back when. Florry was absolutely delighted and was even blushing about all the fuss that was being made for her.
Meanwhile in the kitchen, the chef was laying out her special birthday buffet for the home’s evening meal, with pork pies, sausage rolls, sandwiches, soup, crackers, crisps, fruit, cakes, desserts and much more.
After the day drew to a close, Florry told Winifred Dell team member Sarah. “I can’t quite believe that i’ve made it to 102.” She also addressed the team by saying, “thank you all so very much for everything you’ve organised and for all your lovely comments. It only felt like last month that you were all celebrating my 100th birthday!” She stated that she would wait patiently for her letter from the Queen, but realised that delays with the post are only natural during the current pandemic.
Happy birthday Florry, we hope you had a brilliant day!
