Although 2020 was a year full of change and challenges that people to overcome, the Rainbow of Hope was one thing that helped to spread joy and positivity around the Excelcare group.
The Rainbow of Hope scheme started in response to supporting NHS workers and frontline teams for the important role had and continue to have in healthcare settings across the UK.
Many homes joined in with scheme and painted rainbow pictures to put in their windows. This theme extended to Rainbow Corners inside the home where reunions with loved ones through the window could take place. They also provided a place where people could go to relax or socialise with friends, surrounded by a bright colour scheme.
The team at Etheldred House decided to continue this theme into the new year and themed the start of 2021 with a colourful activity.
All of the people living and working at the home painted their hands with a chosen colour from the rainbow. They then placed their hand onto a piece of paper, whilst making a wish, leaving a colourful handprint on the paper when removed.
Many residents wished for a brighter and more hopeful year.
The handprints were then cut and stuck together to form a collage of colourful prints. These have been placed around the home to remind everyone there is a brighter future ahead.
Everyone enjoyed working together and welcoming the year with hope and positivity.
